Usually ready in 24 hours“This volume of Killed By Death differs from the others in a few ways. It concentrates on just one region... California, and instead of containing previously releases rare records, this one is culled from demo tapes, mostly from bands that never had any releases. Because of this, you'll find more hissing than usual, but if you can get past that, you'll be treated to some amazing punk rock ('78-'83) that has been unheard by even the most avid collectors and fans. This is definitely a real Killed By Death.”
So stated the anonymous compiler of Killed By Death #13 as quoted from the back cover of the original release from way back in 1993. This particular volume of Killed By Death—for whatever reason—is one that has not been constantly kept in print over the years….until now! This super limited cassette version of KBD #13 is lovingly remastered from an original vinyl copy, the graphics carefully and accurately reproduced and has all the liner notes from the back cover.
It has long been rumored that this KBD was originally put together by Tim Yohannan, founder and editor (until his untimely death in 1998) of the longest running punk zine MAXIMUMROCKNROLL. Well, the new producer of this tape can confirm that it was Tim who made the comp as it was Tim himself who gifted it to him (and who is “him”…I think that will remain a misteryee..I mean mystery) at the legendary S.F. punk record store Epicenter!
