It's truly astonishing what a transformation DWARVES have undergone over the course of their band history: Most people probably know them as a "horror-punk" band with an extremely aggressive demeanor and rather direct, kick-ass music. But before they made this change of direction at the end of the 1980s, they were a no less excellent psychedelic-beat, sixties-garage band—and thus anticipated what dozens of bands have rediscovered today as a cool sound.

These recordings have admittedly been hard to come by until now, but Recess Records has now reissued the early phase of DWARVES under the title "Lick It 1983-1986 (The Psychedelic Years)" (Recess/Flight 13) in double LP and CD format.

Included are the "Horror Stories" album, the 7"s "Lick It" and "Suburban Nightmare," as well as 15 previously unreleased tracks, the origins of which are, however, left unmentioned in the booklet.

Anyone who likes/liked CRAMPS and FUZZTONES will not be able to pass up this disc.
