Snacking on not only the titular funk and jazz, the band also takes touristic zig zags through exotica, rock, and disco. Like the alien mimic in John Carpenter's sci-fi horror film "The Thing", each song seems almost persuasive as a stab at these genres, but crucially twists itself out of alignment in a perverse reveal."
