Conceived of in 2023 by Nevada County-born n’ raised, SF-based artist nrSPASE (who is in fact Matt Fogel, drummer/songwriter from Hangtown, Lonely Dingos, Shut Up), NOOK is an “uplifting bummer.” One might imagine that“In an alternate universe where Built to Spill and Grandaddy never existed, No One’s Okay would probably fill at least some of that void.” Hopefully…

The live version of the band has yet to coalesce, but the eventual inaugural players will swap instruments and vocals (even in the middle of songs with the help of the on-stage communal “okay” box - which is no one’s - containing mysterious looping phenomena…

The project has now gone from stardust to nebula, and if this lo-fi DIY debut demo  attracts more dark energy to its sphere of gravity, an expanded and polished studio album looms nigh on the event horizon…

This unmastered lo-fi diy prototape was recorded entirely on a phone using bodega-bought headphones as a microphone (with the exception of track 8 which was recorded in a van with a toys r us drum kit). It features vocals, ukulele, (ovation guitar as) bass, lead guitar, auto harp, cello, drums, and captured ambient sounds from the corner of Central and McAllister, SF, CA.
