"It’s a fucking three LP box set collecting three different live sets housed in scans of geegaws and the mighty Karoline’s (@deathbyathousandnostalgiccuts) iconic photographs. The liner notes on the back state: “there was no good Hickey, and there was no bad Hickey,” but for those of us who crave lo-fi, catchy punk music played with reckless abandon and a vicious wit, I’m gonna classify this as undeniably good! Even though I never saw this band, and don’t/didn’t know these people, I know the songs, and I know the absurd stories. From time to time when something is stressing me out I think, “What would Hickey think about this?” And I find solace in assuming that Hickey wouldn’t give a fuck! And the dedication to chaos that’s captured on these live tracks only reinforces that fuckall attitude. The riffs get heavy, the choruses stuck in your head, the reason to believe re-affirmed. “Say something to me boy, I’ll come over and burp your sorry ass… I’m talking ‘tough guy!’” I could listen to that sentence all day.
