"...2001 is quite a bit different from The Chronic, as Dr. Dre takes that record’s g-funk sound, and puts it more in line with the current status of the gangsta rap scene, being far more hard hitting in sound quality, as well as more comedic via lyricisms and display.

Like The Chronic, the record has plenty of featured acts that make up the tracklist, but here I feel like they are more prevalent, sort of making 2001 feel like a collaborative effort than what The Chronic showcased. Obviously Snoop Dogg is one of the best performers here with his involvement on some of the more popular tracks like Fuck You, Still D.R.E., and The Next Episode. There is also involvement of the infamous Eminem on some tracks as well, and his performance is actually really nice here. Personally, I just could never get into the guy’s music, but I cannot deny that he is a skilled rapper when he really gives it his all, and on tracks like What’s The Difference, and Forgot About Dre, he really does shine amazingly."    - Album Of The Year
