Mother Juno, from 1987, reunites Pierce with guitarist Kid Congo Powers, who co-formed the band in 1980 and who lights up the likes of Lupita Screams with searing solos. Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins is an unlikely but inspired producer.
