Maximum RocknRoll #317
I'm hearing something along the lines of THIS BIKE IS A PIPEBOMB weaned on 50 MILLION or HICKEY instead of WOODY GUTHRIE. Female-fronted - it sounds like the band is comprised of at least three women all singing harmonies. It has that sort of Plan-It-X folky vibe but without the cheesy, all-too-earnest vocal inflection that characterizes many Plan-It-X releases and makes them unlistenable. Inadventent Plan-It-X shit talk aside, this is devoid of the some of the moreill-fated folk punk trappings and instead carries the charms of Bay Area bands like 50 MILLION or SHELLSHAG. Clean guitar that's not jangly, the vocal lines are full of hooks and melodies. They're talented musicians, so it's pleasurable to take in their easy handling of epic riffs. Good Stuff. (PS)
